Aarhus World Championships
SAP, the market leader in enterprise application software, has extended its relationship with World Sailing to become the Official Technology Partner of the Hempel Sailing World Championships Aarhus 2018.
SAP has brought its cutting-edge, innovative solutions to World Sailing's World Cup Series of events for more than a year and the technology will once again be used at the World Championships, the primary Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition qualification event.
Throughout the World Cup Series, SAP has transformed the events by providing in-depth analysis that has improved sailors' performance on the water and reinvented the fan experience on the shoreline and at home. Furthermore, operations for sailors, coaches and race management teams have been simplified and the media have insights to deliver a more informed commentary on the sport.

At the Hempel Sailing World Championships, 366 races across the ten Olympic and two Kiteboarding events will be held over 11 days of racing. Every gold fleet race and selected qualification and silver fleet races will be tracked during the competition.
The tracking, plugged into SAP Sailing Analytics will enable users to dive deep into the data. Key analytics such as manoeuvres made, distance sailed, winning lanes will be available to sailors and coaches to help them understand and assess their performance, enhancing the competition on the water.

Delivering 366 races over 11 days is no easy task and to support the International Race Officials managing race protocol on and off the water, SAP will be providing the SAP Sailing Race Manager mobile app. This app has been used extensively at the World Cup Series and ensures greater efficiency and control for race organisers by automating and simplifying their manual tasks and communication during the event.
ABOUT THE HEMPEL SAILING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AARHUS 2018
Held every four years, the Sailing World Championships is one of the biggest global sailing events in the world and the principal qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Sailing Competition.
Hempel Sailing World Championships Aarhus Denmark 2018 will include all 10 Olympic boat classes. Kiteboarding will be added to the programme for the first time. The ambition is to make the championships in Aarhus a unique and spectacular event, where sailing is made more popular and accessible than ever before.
The Championships will be held from 30 July to 12 August 2018 and 1,500 sailors from up to 90 nations will race in 1,100 boats.
Held simultaneously with the Sailing World Championships in Aarhus, a large festival will provide opportunities visiting families to get out on the water. The event expects to draw 400,000 visitors to Aarhus.
